Our Story

Five years ago I had moved to a new town to be closer to a girl I was in love with. I had found a humble studio apartment that had beautiful exposed brick walls and high ceilings. It was snug, restful and I was fortunate to have found it.

Fall was just turning into winter and the holidays were slowly approaching. I was excited about my new life in such a picturesque town. I felt that almost everything was in it’s right place. But something was missing.

When I was a boy, my father would take us up to a rustic cabin in Northern Michigan. We would take turns carrying and putting firewood into the old fashion furnace that would then provide heat for the entire cabin. I remember feeling some sort of connection with nature as the smell of charred pine and cedar filled every room.

Back to five years ago. I had been mulling around this notion that something was missing. After some reflection and rumination, it then hit me that what was missing was a scent. It was a scent of something – something I couldn’t quite put my finger on right away. But I knew it would possibly be a blend of my childhood memories of Fall and Winter holidays and my trips with my family to Northern Michigan. I immediately began to search the internet for a candle that might fit that description. I ordered candle after candle. I even ordered candles from Paris. One by one they came in the mail. And, to my disappointment, not a single one came close to what I had in my mind. I immediately phoned a mentor of mine and told him I had this candle business idea and asked him to tell me why it was a foolish plan. He said the opposite.

Knowing nothing about candle making, a long and arduous journey began. Through the ups and downs of the learning curve, a prototype was eventually born. And, three years later, we completed the Scorched Timber Scented Candle.

This is our story and I am honored to share it with you. I am so grateful for every single person that brings this special candle into their home.

Thank you,

Jordan
